Chocolatey, yummy, comfort food! This reminds me of childhood birthday parties.
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two round 8 or 9 inch cake pans. Beat all ingredients in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes. Pour into pans, dividing batter equally.
Bake until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes; cool. Frost with Chocolate Butter Frosting.
Mix margarine and chocolate. Stir in powdered sugar. Beat in vanilla and milk until frosting is of spreading consistency.
¼ cup shortening
½ teaspoon vanilla
2 ounces melted unsweetened chocolate (cool)
